Bangkok-Pattaya Trip Day 2 Part 1: Wat Pho, Chaophraya River, Wat Arun, Golden Buddha Temple

     Hello everybody ^^
The second day in Bangkok, i still don't use to it. I still confused when wake up 'where am i?' and suddenly remembered that i'm at hotel in Bangkok. lol. Today breakfast was really good western type (you can choose) with french toast, pancake, sausage (the best chicken sausage ever!!), fried potato, a lil' bit of chili sauce and a glass of orange juice, nom nom :9 The only one thing i dislike, the chili sauce is not spicy at all. It was sour but it's not tomato sauce.

not my pict, my friend's breakfast

After the delicious breakfast, we went to nearest place first, Wat Pho. Actually it's only take a few minutes by car to go to Wat Pho from Grande Ville Hotel.

Wat Pho or The Temple of Reclining Buddha or Wat Phra Chetuphon is a Buddhist Temple, the largest temple in Bangkok and famed for its huge and majestic reclining Buddha statue, measuring 46 metres long and covered in golden leaf (Bangkok.com)

Wat Pho also famous for its traditional Thai Massage. It's quite different to most other forms of therapeutic massage and tends to be invigorating rather than relaxing, incorporating yoga style postures to relieve stress and improve blood circulation. Cost around 120 baht for half an hour or 200 baht per hour (Bangkok.com)

But i can't try the massage because of the time. So i just sight seeing the reclining Buddha and take many pict :) Oh!! there's one thing. If you wear short, the staff will give you green eye-catching clothes (look exactly the same as a bathrobe)

After seeing the Wat Pho, we continue to Chao Phraya River Pier to take a boat to go to Wat Arun. Before reach the pier, you will found a market but if you want to buy souvenir, don't buy it here. There's a place inside Wat Arun who sell cheaper souvenir. So, keep your money ;)

Coconut is the must try beverage to drink when visiting Thailand. But i can't drink it because of the time and tour schedule :'(

To ride the boat, you must buy the ticket first @ 20 Baht.

I like riding on a boat because i like to see the view.

White Orchid dinner cruise. Actually we plan to do dinner cruise but we cancel it due to seasick

in Chao Phraya river, there's a lot of catfish and people believe they can't catch them so they (the fish) live from their birth to death in this river

We went to Wat Arun, the Temple of the Dawn, locally known as Wat Chaeng.Wat Arun is one of the best known landmarks and one of the most published images of Bangkok.

You can rent the traditional Thai clothes in front of Wat Arun.

Because Wat Arun is a temple, so if you wear shorts or mini skirt you have to rent the fabric. If you don't want, so you can't come in or better use long jeans.

Like i said before, my tour guide told us if we want to buy souvenir, go buy it in Wat Arun because they will give you cheaper price. Especially for Indonesian, the seller can speak Indonesian and accept Indonesian Rupiah.

I have a bad experience while in there. I tell my friends to take a picture with the Thai statue, but when i finished, an old man (coming out no where) stop me and asking for money. He said that one person (to take the picture with the statue) is 40 Baht. Because i already take the picture, so i gave him 80 Baht for 2 person.

be careful of this statue!!

P.S. I really want to see Wat Arun at sunset but i can't :( They say, it's a must to see that while in Thailand

After going to Wat Arun, we take the boat again and went to lunch at a river view restaurant. It's called Wan Fah, the exclusive Thai boat & restaurant.

When we went there, mostly the visitors are leading by tour guide, not personnel. The food was quite delicious since i'm very hungry but i don't really like it. Maybe i just don't like Thai cuisine ;p

After our stomach are full, we continue to the nxt place. My tour guide said we better visit Golden Buddha Temple first rather than just going to Siam Discovery (for Madame Tussaud)

Golden Buddha Temple or Wat Traimit houses the world's largest golden seated Buddha measuring nearly five metres in height and weighing five and a half tons. In the past, artisans crafted the Buddhas in gold and disguised them from invading armies by a covering of stucco and plaster (Bangkok.com)

The Buddha at Wat Traimit was discovered by accident when it was accidentally dropped as it was being moved, revealing, under a casing of plaster, a beautiful solid gold Sukhothai style Buddha. Pieces of the plaster are still kept on display (Bangkok.com)
You must take off your shoes or slipper and of course because it is a temple you can't go in if you wear shorts unless you rent the fabric.

Stay tuned for Bangkok Trip Day 2 Part 2 :))

Bangkok-Pattaya Trip Day 1: Platinum Fashion Mall, Chinatown

     Hello everybody ^^
This is my very first time went to another country so i'm very excited. My friend said it'd better when we go to a new place with a tour because it will be easier. So me, my 3 girl friends, one of my friends parents, her grandmother and her neighbor (total 10 person) went to Bangkok with TIS Tour & Travel. It's a private tour so it's quite expensive USD 600 + USD 15 for tour guide tips with minimum 10 pax but we can negotiate places that we want to go.

It's Monday morning (2013/03/11), my flight is on 07.20 AM with Air Asia and will arrive at Bangkok on 10.45 AM and i'm already arrive at Soekarno-Hatta airport from 5.00 AM!!
After transfer our luggage (max 15 kg and hand carried max 7 kg), check in and went to the airplane finally 07.20 AM we set off from Soekarno-Hatta to Don Mueang Internatinal Airport.
Jakarta to Bangkok, 3 hours and 30 minutes in the plane (Airasia) was really torture me. The seat is very straight and narrow so it's makes me headache. But 3 hours long was passed quickly because i'm listening to music :)

Finally i arrived at Bangkok *yeay* Bangkok has the same time as Jakarta (WIB) so it's easy, we don't have to adjust the time. Just one thing that makes me confused at first was the people. Thai look exactly the same (appearance) as Indonesian. But i got suprised when they talked. At first i thought 'what are they talking about?' and i realized i'm not in Indonesia but Thailand. Haha so i must adapt with that.

We met our tour guide, mr. A and he is a Thai but can speak Indonesian like a native. We go around with a minibus with a crazy driver. Really. The driver makes me and my friends want to throw out. He drive like a racer and stop like it was nothing. Even my camera falls when the car stop.

Even though the driver was crazy but i still enjoyed Bangkok city view. It's busy like Jakarta but it's clean and organized (but the traffic jam was damn crazy!!) and even there's many cars but Bangkok isn't very polluted because they used gas fueled car.
Back to the trip, from airport we went straight to Platinum Fashion Mall. It's the largest wholesale shopping and famous for selling good clothes with cheaper price.
Before Shopping, we ate at the foodcourt. We must buy the card to eat at this foodcourt. (If there's excess money in the card you can swap it with real money. If not, the food seller will take your card)
the booth to buy the card

I ordered Roasted Duck with Rice 50 Baht. It was too sweet.
After shopping around, we all feel really tired so we go to hotel. Our hotel is Grande Ville Hotel and it's located near Chinatown.
hunting day 1 hehe

After resting for a while at the hotel, we decided to dinner at Chinatown. Because today dinner isn't a part of our tour, so we go by our self. It's quite confusing because we don't know where exactly the place and lost but at the end we found it :D

pomegranates juice, 100 Baht. perfect drink to remove your dehidration

 the satay seller

We ate at a crowded food stall (because usually the crowded one is the delicious and cheaper so many ppl will come) and order Tom Yum, Pork with oyster sauce, rice and mineral water. And it was really, really delicious! Its all cost 400 Baht. Sorry i can't take a pict of the whole meal because i was really hungry and forget about it. lol

After that we went to 7eleven to buy sim card for our phones.
The number is 69 Baht and the refill is 100 Baht

Back to the hotel, the view from my room is very nice and lovely. Love it!!

Stay tuned for Bangkok Trip Day 2 :))
